How To Obtain Information
Required When Transferring Your Domain

When transferring your domain name(s) to us, you MUST have access to the e-mail address of the Administrative Contact for your domain as on record with your current registrar-- or change it to one that you can use.
This is required because your current registrar will send an e-mail message to the Administrative Contact to verify that you want to transfer your domain name.
If you don't remember what e-mail address is used, don't worry, it's not hard to find out... we'll show you how just below. And its not difficult to change if you have to-- we'll also tell you how to do that.

Here's how to obtain the e-mail address of your Administrative Contact and/or the names of your Name Servers:

A. If your current registrar is Network Solutions - Verisign

1. go to the WhoIs page of their website, enter your domain name - yourdomainname.com - in "Search Our WHOIS Records", and then press "GO!"

2. you'll then be taken to a page that provides information about your domain name, including the e-mail address of the Administrative Contact.

If you are no longer using the email address that is shown for your Administrative Contact, you have to change it with Verisign - Network Solutions BEFORE you start the transfer.

You can use their Account Manager to make changes. After you login:
1. clickon Domain Names in the left-hand column under My Account 2. clickon Edit Contacts/Manage DNS in the middle column under Services 3. clickon CHANGE CONTACT under Administrative Contact - NOTE: with their system you can't edit the existing information, you must change the whole Administrative contact record. Not hard to do, but not as easy as our system, where you can just edit the information you want to change. 4. select the method for changing, and make the change

If you have problems using their Account Manager, contact their customer service department using their toll free telephone number of 1-888-642-9675. Tell them you want to update the e-mail address for the Administrative Contact of your domain name.

B. If your current registrar is Register.com

1. go to the WhoIs page of their website, enter your domain name - yourdomainname.com - Use the text box at the upper left corner of the page labeled "Domain Name Search", and then press "Check It"

2. you'll then be taken to a page that will list your domain name and show it as "Taken".

3. clickon the word "Taken" next to your domain name.

4. this will take you to a page which provides information about your domain name, including the e-mail address of the Administrative Contact. Here's a link to a typical whois search results page.

If you are no longer using the email address that is shown, you have to change it with register.com BEFORE you start the transfer.

You can use their Domain Manager to make changes. If you have problems using the Domain Manager, contact their customer support department using their toll free telephone number of 1-800-899-9724. Tell them you want to update the e-mail address for the Administrative Contact of your domain name.

C. If your current registrar is NOT Network Solutions or register.com

1. If you know the name of your current registrar, you can go to their website and use their Account Manager or "whois" search to find out the information just as explained above for Network Solutions or register.com.

2. If you don't remember your current registrar or can't obtain the information from their website, try using our WhoIs Search.

3. If none of the above works for you, contact us and we'll help you obtain the information.

Remember, it is not possible to transfer domains whose registration period has expired. You have to renew with your current registrar. After renewing with them, you can transfer your domain to us and take advantage of our low renewal rates.
