Transferring and renewing is quick and extremely easy - after all, we're Ez-DomainNameRegistration.com!
NOTE: This is NOT where you transfer a domain name, it is an explanation of the transfer process.
Go here to transfer and renew a domain name.
Our service is very fast and it is totally secure and completely reliable. If desired, you can transfer more than one domain name at the same time.
Transferring the registration of your domain name to us does not effect the hosting of your website. Your website will continue to be hosted by your exisiting hosting company. We do offer website hosting, but you do not have to use our hosting service.
You won't lose any time you've already paid for because we add a full year to the existing expiration date of all transferred domains-- for example, if your current expiration date is 3 months away, when you transfer your domain to us, your new expiration date will will be in 15 months.
There are a couple of things that can prevent adding on the additional year. They are:
1. You must have registered the domain name with your current registrar more than 60 days ago. So don't transfer it during the first 60 days after registering it or you'll lose the extra year.
2. If you renewed the domain name with your current registrar within the last 45 days, they can revoke the renewal and you'd lose their year. You can ask them to give you a refund, but this is solely your responsibility. Best advice, don't transfer a domain name during the first 45 days after renewing it or you'll lose the extra year.
3. There has to be less than 2 years until the expiration date of your current registration period or you'll lose the extra year (but not the remaining time).
To renew your domain name with us, you must transfer it to us from your current registrar. You can transfer your domain to us as long as it has been with your current registrar for more than 60 days and it has not yet expired.
Your current registrar must approve the transfer of the domain name to us in order to process the renewal. Therefore your renewal/transfer request must be made far enough in advance of your domain's expiration date for your current registrar to process the transfer. To process a transfer request requires your current registrar to verify that you want to transfer... this involves contacting the administrative contact of your domain name by email to get your confirmation.
If you don't remember the e-mail address of your Administrative Contact, or you no longer use it, here's how to obtain it or change it.
Therefore you MUST initiate the transfer/renewal at least 10 business days before the expiration date of the current registration period; and you MUST use the email address of your current Administrative contact in your transfer request. Be sure to respond promptly to each confirmation request, as some registrars require that they receive your confirming email within 2 or 3 days of their initial message to you.
NOTE: some registrars have started taking longer to process transfer requests in order to prevent domain owners from transferring, thus forcing the domain owner to have to renew with the higher fees of their current registrar. Thus the earlier you initiate the transfer and renewal request, the better. Remember: you won't lose any time you've already paid for because we add a full year to the existing expiration date of all transferred domains.
Bottom line, if you start the renewal/transfer process early enough, there shouldn't be any problem transferring and renewing with us. And, you won't loss any time remaining on your existing registration period because we'll add a full year to the present expiration date.
Registering is done one step at a time as outlined below. Before completing the online transfer application make sure your domain name has not expired. We ask that you have at least 10 business days left until expiration to ensure your domain will transfer.
If your domain name has expired, you can:
1. backorder it so that as soon as it is released, we can
automatically register it for you using our DomainAlert program. or
2. contact your current registrar to purchase an additional year from them, and then complete our online transfer form to take advantage of our low rates.
- Go to Transfer A Domain
- Enter the domain name you want to register.
If you want to transfer 50+ domains, click the line above the domain name box that says: “Click here for special pricing on bulk transfers.”
- Enter the current registrar in the next box, if known
- Clickon "Continue"
- Setup your account control panel by entering a UserName and Password (existing users login to their control panel)
- Enter information regarding your ownership of the domain name(s)
- Clickon "Continue"
- If there is another person to be listed as the Administrative, Technical or Billing contacts, click on that title to enter their information. If these are not changed, the registrant (owner) will be listed as all contacts.
IMPORTANT: The ADMINISTRATIVE e-mail address you specify MUST match the administrative e-mail address at your current registrar. This is necessary because your current registrar will use that e-mail address when obtaining confirmation of your transfer request. After the transfer has been completed, you can use your account control panel to change the administrative e-mail address if you want to.
If you don't remember the e-mail address of your Administrative Contact or no longer use it, here's how to obtain it or change it.
- Clickon "Continue"
- Enter information to register your ownership of the domain name(s)
- Clickon "Continue"
- Review your contact information. If the same information is to be used for the Technical, Administrative and Billing contacts, nothing further needs to be done. However, if there is different person to be listed as the Technical, Administrative and/or Billing contacts, click on that title to enter their information. If these are not changed, the registrant (owner) will be listed as all contacts.
- Clickon "Continue"
- Enter the DNS information-- the names of the Name Servers of your website host. If, as is almost certainly the case, your website will continue to be hosted on the servers of the same company it currently is, just select "Keep the existing Name Servers".
If you don't yet have a website, you don't have to enter anything for the Name Servers. Instead, you have the choice of "Parking" your domain name with us and we'll provide you a free "Coming Soon" page, or you can select that any of the other hosting options or forwarding options. Once your domain name has transferred to us, you can change the DNS information at any time using our online control panel accessible via the Manage My Account link at the top of any page.
- Push "Continue"
- Review transfer and registration agreements
- Push "Continue"
- Review and confirm all the transfer information is correct. Especially check spelling of domain name(s), email address, and name servers (if used). Also select any e-mail or forwarding services that you desire. These services can also be added at any time after the transfer of your domain name has been completed using our online control panel accessible via the Manage My Account link at the top of any page.
- Press "Continue"
- Make payment by credit card - shopping cart is Thawte SSL secured
- Use the Print button of your browser to print a receipt
- Your administrative contact will be sent an email to authorize the transfer. The transfer will not be initiated without acceptance from the administrative contact, which is done by a return e-mail. Once initiated, transfers can take up to 10 days to complete. You will be notified by e-mail when your transfer is final.
If your transfer request fails, first verify that the registration period hasn't already expired.
If it has expired:
1. backorder it so that as soon as it is released, we can
automatically register it for you using our DomainAlert program. or
2. contact your current registrar to purchase an additional year from them, and then complete our online transfer form to take advantage of our low rates.
If it hasn't expired:
+ be sure that you used the email address of your current Administrative contact in your transfer request because that is where your current registrar's confirmation request is sent. A common reason for a transfer to fail is that the registrar did not receive a confirmation of your request.
+ contact your original registrar to see if there was a reason the transfer failed.
Once you've transferred to us, you can log into Manage My Account at any time and perform administration functions for your domains. This includes changing your contact information, name servers, forwarding, renewing, etc.
Ready to begin? Go here to transfer and renew a domain name. Remember: You continue to own all domain names you transfer to us. You are the owner (the "registrant") of all domain names that you transfer or register, not us. This means you control all aspects of the domain name including contact information, forwarding, name servers, etc. You can sell it, transfer it, renew it, let it expire... whatever you want.
