I forgot my username and/or password. How can I get them?
Its easy, use our Password Reminder system and we'll automatically and immediately email them to you. Depending on which function you're trying to log into, there are two different login systems. One for the Domain Names administration function; and one for all other functions, including Domain Forwarding, Customer Information, Order History, and Payment Information. Click here to go to the Password Recovery System.

How long does it take before my domain name is "active"?
The normal internet propagation time is about 72 hours; and therefore newly registered domain names will take up to 72 hours before they are accessible everywhere on the internet. This is the same regardless of who you register your domain name with.

Why does my domain name still appear to be available when I go to another domain name registration site?
If you check your domain name availability on our web site after you have completed our registration process, your WhoIs, domain name and contact information is typically generated and available online immediately. However, your recently registered domain name may still appear to be available when you go to another domain name registration site. This usually is an indication that either your are checking prior to the normal 72 hour internet propagation time, or that the registration web site you are visiting is not displaying the WhoIs information of competing registrars. It does not mean that your domain name is still available for registration.

If you actually attempt to register your new domain name through a competing registrar's site (not just check availability), you will receive a message stating, "this domain is not available" or "this name is reserved". This is because the shared registration systems have an entry on file for your newly registered domain name; thereby indicating that the domain name is already registered and preventing duplication.

I just transferred my domain name to you. How long does it take?
It can be as little as 2-3 days, but it can be as long as 10 days. The transfer process is somewhat complicated in that it involves 4 different entities: you (the domain name owner, also called the Registrant); the new Registrar (us); the Central Registry that oversees all domain names; and your current Registrar. Basically the process uses email messages to verify and confirm that the Registrant (you) really want to transfer your domain name. This process is designed to protect you from someone falsely transferring your domain name and perhaps even trying to steal it.

The two most important things are:
1. you must use the email address for your administrative contact as on record with your current registrar, and
2. be sure to respond promptly to each confirmation request, as some registrars require that they receive your confirming email within 2 or 3 days of their initial message to you.

How do I change the email address, contact, name server, or other information for my domain name?
You can easily administer your domains at any time. We provide you with a password protected, online domain account control panel that you can use to modify contact information, change name servers, control forwarding, renew domains, etc. Just go to our web site and click on the Manage My Account button. Then select the proper administrative function. Use this link for detailed information about using Manage My Account.

IMPORTANT: Be sure that the e-mail address for the Administrative Contact for your domain name is keep valid and that you can access it. Certain changes and/or verification of changes to domain name information typically involves sending an e-mail message to the Administrative Contact. This process requires that you have access to the administrative contact e-mail address in order to complete the confirmation process.

I just transferred my domain name to you, why can't I log into Manage My Account domain control panel and make changes?
You can not make any changes until the transfer is completed. This is because your domain is still under the control of your old registrar until it has been transferred to us.

How long does it take for changes to take effect?
If you use your control panel to make changes to your domain name information, they will not show up instantly. It typically requires the standard internet propagation time. Changes to IP addresses and domain forwarding typically take up to 24 hours to take effect. Domain Name Server (DNS) changes can take up to 72 hours.

How do I transfer my domain name to my ISP or hosting company? Or, how do I setup my domain name to transfer visitors to my website?
Sometimes website hosting companies tell people that to bring visitors to their website that they need to transfer their domain name to them; whereas what they're really saying is that you need to setup your domain name so that it transfers visitors to your website. This is easy to do -- here's why and how you transfer (more appropriately, how you "point") your domain name to your hosting company so that it brings visitors to your website.

Domain name registration and website hosting are two related, but independent services. Your website pages are hosted on the servers of your ISP or on the servers of a hosting company. Your domain name is registered via a domain registration services company such as ours, and is the "address" of your website.

When properly configured, your domain name will bring visitors to your web pages on the server of your ISP or hosting company. In order for this to happen, you must setup our DNS information so that we "point" your domain name to the company hosting your website. This is very easy to do using Manage My Account. See the answer immediately below - How do I make my domain name work with my website?

How do I make my domain name work with my website?
How you make your domain name "point" to your website depends on whether you have a free website provided by your ISP or others (like AOL, Earthlink, Yahoo GeoCities, etc) or if you have a paid website hosting service provided by your ISP or a website hosting company. We'll explain how to set it up both ways.

If you have a paid website hosting service provided by your ISP or a hosting company, you need to set the DNS information for your domain name so that it uses the name servers of your hosting company. We don't charge you to do this, and its very easy to do using your domain account control panel.

If you don't know what the names of your hosting company's name servers are, ask them and they'll tell you. They'll be named something like NS.HOSTING_COMPANY_NAME.COM and NS2.HOSTING_COMPANY_NAME.COM. To associate them with your domain name, go to Manage My Account and clickon Domain Names and login. Then:

  1. select Modify Name Servers
  2. select "Single domain" if the name servers are only for one of your domain names (or your only one) or select "All of my domains" if the same name servers are used for all of your domain names
  3. if you are replacing existing name servers, delete them
  4. enter the name of the first name server in the Name Server 1 text box
  5. enter the name of the second name server in the Name Server 2 text box
  6. push Save Changes
Even though we'll change this information immediately, it takes up to 72 hours for changes of this nature to propagate accross the internet.

If your website is using a free hosting service you can't use your hosting company's name servers as this is one of the services that they only provide to their paid hosting customers. Therefore, to get your domain name to point to your website, you must use a service we provide called Domain Forwarding. We offer both "masked" and "standard" domain forwarding as a FREE service when you register your domain name with us.

You setup Domain Forwarding by going to Manage My Account, select Domain Forwarding, and login. Then select either the standard forwarding or the "masked" forwarding. After selecting the type of forwarding you want to use, you then enter the website url/address that you want your domain name to "point" to.

  • http://www.hostingcompanyname.com/members/yourname
  • http://www.yourISPname/~members-name/
  • http://yourname.hostingcompanyname.com/
